It finally hit me that if I finish my training and become a bus driver. I'm going to be responsible for between 30 and 70 real life young human lives every single weekday. I can do the driving part fine, I'm sure of it, but accepting that kind of responsibility is like standing on a bridge and looking up at the sky. It's both vertigo-inducing and a rush of perspective, all at once.
At least now I can shut up those fucking irritating people who rant about wanting to silence annoying children "with duct tape and garbage bags" by pointing out that I'm a mandated reporter.
